Definitions

Unsubscribe.ai ("Unsubscribe," "Company," "we," "our," or "us") is a Wyoming-based company providing subscription discovery, monitoring, management, and subscription cancellation services.

For purposes of this Privacy Policy, the following terms have the meanings described below:

  • "the Services" refers to the Unsubscribe.ai website, progressive web application (PWA), and any related applications, features, integrations, or tools provided by Unsubscribe.ai.

1.0 Scope and Applicability

1.1 Regulatory Positioning and GLBA Safeguards Alignment

Unsubscribe.ai provides subscription discovery and management tools and does not provide banking services, extend credit, hold consumer deposits, or act as a financial advisor.

Unsubscribe.ai is not a "financial institution" as defined under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act ("GLBA"). However, because we process financial transaction metadata through service providers, we implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to align with applicable elements of the GLBA Safeguards Rule, including:

  • Risk assessment procedures

  • Access controls

  • Encryption of sensitive data

  • Vendor oversight and contractual security requirements

  • Incident response procedures

  • Ongoing security monitoring

We do not store plain text passwords for financial institutions. Payment information, if collected, may be processed by third-party payment processors subject to their own terms and privacy practices.

2.2 Financial Data via Plaid

To enable subscription discovery, the Services integrate with Plaid Inc., a financial data connectivity provider. Transaction metadata received through Plaid is treated as sensitive personal information. We process such data solely for the limited purposes described in this Privacy Policy and do not use or disclose sensitive financial metadata for advertising, marketing, or profiling unrelated to the Services.

When you use the Services and choose to connect a financial account:

  • You are redirected to Plaid's secure interface ("Plaid Link").

  • Your bank credentials are entered directly into Plaid's interface.

  • We do not see, receive, collect, store or have access to your financial institution username or password.

  • Plaid transmits your financial data to us using encrypted channels.

Through Plaid, we may receive:

  • Transaction descriptions

  • Transaction amounts

  • Transaction dates

  • Merchant names

  • Recurring transaction indicators

  • Account type

  • Masked account identifiers

We use this information solely to:

  • Identify recurring subscription payments

  • Provide subscription monitoring

  • Analyze billing activity

  • Provide subscription management tools

  • Facilitate or assist with subscription cancellation requests submitted and authorized by users, including communicating with merchants on the user's behalf when necessary to process such requests.

  • Generate billing and savings insights

Authorization

By connecting your financial account, you authorize:

  • Plaid to access your financial data pursuant to its Privacy Policy

  • Unsubscribe.ai to receive permitted financial metadata from Plaid

Disconnection

You may disconnect your financial account at any time in your account settings.

Upon disconnection:

  • Access tokens are revoked

  • Financial data refreshes cease

  • Future transaction pulls stop

We may automatically collect certain information when you access or use the Services, interact with our website, view or respond to advertisements, or communicate with us online, including:

If you submit information through our website, landing pages, waitlist forms, Meta/Facebook/Instagram lead forms, advertisements, or other lead capture forms, we may collect the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, phone number, company name, inquiry details, communication preferences, and any other information submitted through the form.

We may use CRM, marketing automation, customer engagement, or lead management platforms to store, organize, and respond to inquiries, manage waitlists, communicate with prospective users, provide onboarding information, and improve our marketing and customer support processes.

Lead form and CRM data may be used to communicate with you about Unsubscribe.ai, respond to your inquiries, provide requested information, send service updates, and, where permitted by law and your communication preferences, send marketing or promotional communications.

We do not use financial transaction metadata, Plaid-derived financial data, access tokens, or sensitive financial metadata for lead generation, advertising targeting, or marketing profiling.

3.0 How We Use Personal Information

  • Detect recurring subscriptions

  • Display subscription data

  • Facilitate or assist with subscription cancellation requests submitted and authorized by users, including communicating with merchants on the user's behalf when necessary to process such requests.

  • Monitor subscription cancellation status

  • Improve detection accuracy

  • Maintain security and prevent fraud

  • Comply with legal obligations

  • Communicate with you by email, SMS/text message, phone, or other communication channels

  • Send service updates, account notifications, subscription-related alerts, support messages, onboarding messages, and administrative notices

  • Send marketing or promotional communications where permitted by law and consistent with your communication preferences

  • Respond to inquiries submitted through website forms, advertisements, lead forms, waitlists, CRM systems, or automation platforms

  • Manage leads, waitlists, onboarding, customer engagement, and support workflows

  • Measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns

  • Deliver relevant advertising or retargeting based on website, landing page, or advertisement interaction data, but not based on financial transaction metadata

We do not:

  • Sell your personal information

  • Sell financial transaction data

  • Engage in cross-context behavioral advertising using financial transaction data.

Marketing, advertising, and retargeting activities are based on website activity, advertisement interaction data, lead form submissions, or general engagement with Unsubscribe.ai communications. We do not use Plaid-derived financial transaction metadata, sensitive financial metadata, financial account credentials, access tokens, or subscription transaction data for advertising, retargeting, or cross-context behavioral advertising.

Unsubscribe.ai collects and processes personal information only to the extent reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, and improve the Services requested by users.

We may use advertising platforms, such as Google Ads, to promote our services. These platforms may use cookies or similar technologies to display advertisements on other websites based on general browsing activity.

Unsubscribe.ai does not sell, rent, license, or otherwise monetize users' personal information or financial transaction metadata, and such information is used solely to provide and improve the Services requested by users.

We retain control over how personal information is processed and require service providers to follow our instructions regarding data protection.

Sensitive financial metadata obtained through financial data integrations is used solely to operate the Services and is not used for advertising or marketing purposes.

3.1 SMS Communications

By providing your mobile phone number and affirmatively opting in to receive text messages from Unsubscribe.ai, you consent to receive recurring SMS/text messages from Unsubscribe.ai at the phone number provided.

SMS messages may include service updates, account notifications, subscription-related alerts, support messages, onboarding reminders, waitlist updates, security notices, and, where applicable and permitted by law, promotional or marketing messages.

Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply. Consent to receive SMS/text messages is not a condition of purchase or use of paid services.

You may opt out of SMS/text messages at any time by replying STOP. For assistance, reply HELP or contact us at support@getunsubscribe.com or (970) 538-9711.

After you opt out, we may send a confirmation message acknowledging your opt-out request. After that, you will not receive further SMS/text messages from us unless you later opt in again.

We may maintain records of your SMS consent, opt-in method, phone number, message preferences, message history, and opt-out requests as necessary for compliance, operational, security, and recordkeeping purposes.

4.0 Automated Processing and Analytics

We use automated systems to analyze transaction descriptions and detect recurring payments.

These systems:

  • Identify potential subscription charges

  • Flag billing frequency patterns

  • Generate informational insights

These systems do not:

  • Make legally significant decisions

  • Extend credit

  • Provide financial advice

  • Bind users to financial commitments

Some automated systems used by the Services may incorporate machine learning techniques to improve subscription detection and service functionality.

The Services provide informational tools only and do not constitute financial, legal, tax, or accounting advice. The Services do not guarantee financial outcomes, savings amounts, or billing reductions. Any savings insights or subscription identifications are informational estimates based on available transaction data.

Unsubscribe.ai does not create behavioral profiles, scoring systems, or predictive models about users for marketing, advertising, or unrelated commercial purposes.

Automated Processing Disclosure

Certain features of the Services may use automated systems, including machine learning or artificial intelligence techniques, to analyze transaction descriptions, detect potential recurring subscriptions, and generate informational insights for users.

These systems assist in identifying patterns within financial transaction metadata but do not make legally significant decisions, extend credit, determine eligibility for financial products, or take actions that produce legal or similarly significant effects for users.

All subscription cancellation requests or account actions remain subject to user direction and applicable merchant policies.

5.0 Subscription Cancellation Assistance and No Guarantee

Unsubscribe.ai may facilitate or assist with subscription cancellation requests to third-party merchants based on user authorization.

We do not:

  • Control third-party merchants

  • Guarantee that merchants will honor subscription cancellation requests

  • Guarantee refunds, billing reversals, or cessation of charges

  • Represent that subscription cancellation requests will be processed within any specific timeframe

Subscription status remains subject to the policies and practices of the applicable merchant. Users remain responsible for subscription cancellation and/or confirmation directly with the merchant.

Nothing in the Services shall be interpreted as a guarantee of savings, successful subscription termination, or cancellation confirmation.

5.1 Limited Authorization to Communicate with Merchants

When you request that Unsubscribe.ai facilitate or assist with cancelling a subscription or communicating with a merchant, you authorize Unsubscribe.ai to act as your limited agent for the sole purpose of transmitting cancellation requests or related communications to the applicable merchant or service provider.

This authorization allows Unsubscribe.ai to communicate with the merchant on your behalf and to provide information reasonably necessary to identify your subscription account, which may include your name, email address, or subscription details.

This authorization applies only to actions initiated by you through the Services and may be revoked at any time by discontinuing use of the Services.

Unsubscribe.ai does not represent itself as the merchant account holder and does not assume control over your merchant accounts.

Unsubscribe.ai acts solely as a technology platform offering a communication tool that transmits user-initiated requests and does not intentionally interfere with any contractual relationship between a user and a merchant.

5.2 Merchant Terms and Processing Policies

Merchants may maintain their own terms of service, cancellation procedures, authentication requirements, or automated request policies.

Unsubscribe.ai transmits user-initiated subscription cancellation requests as a communication service and does not control or assume responsibility for how merchants interpret or process such requests.

Nothing in the Services should be interpreted as obligating merchants to accept or process requests submitted through Unsubscribe.ai. Users remain responsible for complying with the terms, conditions, and account requirements of the applicable merchant.

Where applicable under U.S. state privacy laws, we process personal information based on:

  • User consent

  • Performance of a contract

  • Legitimate business interests

  • Legal compliance obligations

7.0 How We Share Information

We share personal information only as described in this Privacy Policy and in the subsections below.

7.1 Service Providers

We may share personal information with trusted service providers that perform services on our behalf, including providers that support:

  • Cloud hosting and infrastructure services

  • Infrastructure management

  • Security monitoring and incident detection

We do not authorize service providers to use users' personal information for their own marketing or advertising purposes.

Sensitive financial metadata obtained through financial data integrations is not shared with artificial intelligence providers for model training, advertising, or unrelated data processing purposes.

Service providers that support communications, SMS/text messaging, CRM, lead management, advertising measurement, or marketing automation may process personal information only as necessary to provide services to Unsubscribe.ai and may not use that information for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

Sensitive financial metadata obtained through Plaid or other financial data integrations is not shared with SMS providers, CRM platforms, advertising platforms, Meta, Google Ads, or marketing automation providers for advertising, retargeting, model training, or unrelated commercial purposes.

7.2 Plaid

We use Plaid Technologies, Inc. and its affiliates ("Plaid") to enable users to connect eligible financial accounts to the Services. When you choose to connect a financial account, you will interact with Plaid Link and may be asked to authenticate with your financial institution and authorize the sharing of certain account information with Plaid and Unsubscribe.ai.

Depending on the permissions you grant and the features you use, we may receive financial account information and transaction metadata through Plaid, such as transaction descriptions, transaction amounts, transaction dates, merchant names, recurring transaction indicators, account type, masked account identifiers, account routing number, financial institution name, account name, balance information, transaction history, and account holder information.

We use information received through Plaid solely to provide, operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Services, including to identify subscriptions and recurring charges, display subscription information, support subscription management and cancellation features, generate billing or savings insights, prevent fraud, troubleshoot issues, and comply with legal obligations.

Unsubscribe.ai does not receive, collect, or store your financial institution username or password.

Plaid may collect, use, and disclose personal information in connection with providing its services and may act as an independent data controller or processor for information it processes. Plaid's data practices are governed by Plaid's own policies, including Plaid's End User Privacy Policy.

You may disconnect a linked financial account through the Services. Plaid may also provide tools, such as Plaid Portal, for managing connected accounts.

We may disclose information when required to:

  • Enforce our Terms of Service

7.4 Business Transfers

In the event of:

When you request that Unsubscribe.ai assist with cancelling a subscription, we may communicate with the relevant merchant or service provider on your behalf.

To facilitate subscription cancellation assistance, we may share limited information with the merchant, which may include:

  • your name

  • relevant subscription details

  • information necessary to identify the subscription account

This information is shared solely for the purpose of facilitating or assisting with your requested subscription cancellation.

By submitting a subscription cancellation request through the Services, you authorize Unsubscribe.ai to communicate with the applicable merchant and provide the information reasonably necessary to process your request.

We do not disclose personal information to third parties except as described in this Privacy Policy or with your authorization.

Merchants are responsible for determining their own cancellation policies and authentication requirements when processing cancellation requests.

7.6 SMS and Mobile Information Privacy Commitment

We do not sell, rent, license, or share mobile phone numbers, SMS opt-in data, SMS consent records, or SMS message content with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

We may disclose mobile phone numbers, SMS consent records, opt-out requests, and related communication data to trusted service providers that help us send, route, manage, monitor, or support SMS/text message communications on our behalf. These service providers are required to process such information only as instructed by Unsubscribe.ai and not for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

SMS opt-in data and consent are not shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

Unsubscribe.ai categorizes data to apply appropriate safeguards based on sensitivity and risk.

Restricted Data

Includes financial transaction metadata, access tokens, authentication credentials, and any information that could reasonably be linked to a financial account.

Restricted Data is subject to:

Confidential Data

Includes account information, support communications, and operational logs.

Confidential Data is protected through administrative and technical safeguards consistent with industry standards.

Service providers that support the Services are required to maintain appropriate security safeguards and contractual protections.

Security controls and practices are periodically reviewed, updated, and may evolve over time to address emerging threats, technological developments, and regulatory requirements.

No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data security incident, we will take appropriate steps to investigate and provide notice where required by applicable law.

While Unsubscribe.ai implements safeguards designed to protect personal information, security measures cannot eliminate all potential risks, and no method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

10.0 Cross-Border Processing

Data may be processed and stored in the United States or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate.

By using the Services, you consent to such processing.

11.0 Children's Privacy

The Services are not directed to individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
